POEM OF CHRYSALIS
Poems by Ahmadun Yosi Herfanda
————————————————————————————–
for centuries i get lost
trapped inside my own substance
i flounder like a bat
in vain searching for your sun
thousands of worms
cry of hunger in me
rise up, o chrysalis of the soul
open your wings and fly toward me
your voice shivers in the chamber
of the heart alluring my worm
to fly into your fire yet still he sulks
bringing me into empty chambers
“if you want god, seek me,” he says
i dwell within yourself
he paints my brain with his light
my heart with his loving touch
my lips with his rosy smile
my hands with his wisdom
be quiet now, my chrysalis
do not roar searching for me

POEM OF VEIN
By Ahmadun Yosi Herfanda
out of love does god place
two angels upon your shoulders
— these are your caretakers
he says, their wings
can take you upward flying to the heaven
whilst stepping on the earth again
you need not fear
the angels are not the police or security
officer, free from envelope and bribery
scornful of bootlicking or being bootlicked
the angels are free from your evil drives
out of love does god place
two angels upon your shoulders
because of love god is closer
than your vein

THE RIB PRAYING
By Ahmadun Yosi Herfanda
On a slab of stone
Eva, a piece of rib, prayed:
Oh, my God, back me
to Adam’s chest ancient!
Thousand of years She wandered
to seek love from a drop of dew
and Khuldi fruit that fell
into the world crack.
She wanted to end her negation
of beginning, an event that opened
the injury. In Arafah field–
where She have found the first
meeting trail–their love has been
stolen by meat and idol worshipper.
On a slab of stone
Eva’s love also fell out
in brittle praying.

THE SPIDER VERSES
By Ahmadun Yosi Herfanda
Two spiders who live in my eyes
wound around their web in my body
“I’ve snared his hands,” said
the spider in my right eye
“I’ve snared his feet,” said
the spider in my left eye
“You must snare his neck!”
“You must snare his mouth!”
“You must snare his mind!”
“You must snare his feeling!”
“We must snare all of his body and soul!”
So, like a powerless fly,
I was hanging on spider web
And, like a hungry cat’s eyes,
the spiders observed me intently
to end my life
And the God in my imagination
watching me only, laughing!
